Cruel Summer

Yes, it’s been a cruel summer, but only because of these endless heat waves.

So how do you beat the heat? I recommend any of the following: camping under the shady trees at Hillside (not enough trees for me at The Woods; sorry, boys); hanging out (literally!) on the nude beach at Sandy Hook; or pretending you’re a soggy crumpet floating around the pool all day long. If you don’t have a pool, then join one or find a friend who does!

Just don’t forget the sunscreen, especially at Sandy Hook. Nothing ruins the weekend faster than a sunburn on your naughty bits.

If you can’t get out of the city, then here are some excellent ways to beat the heat in the Gayborhood while cranking up the hotness, if you know what I mean.

Boys of Summer

Here’s one time you can leave the sunscreen at home, unless you want to be that man who smells like cocoa butter and cash, of course.

Don’t miss the gorgeous men running around in their Speedos at the Boys of Summer party, 9 p.m.-3:30 a.m. Aug. 12 at Voyeur Nightclub, 1221 St. James St.

DJ Carl Michaels will be spinning the tunes while 40 hot and sexy Aussiebum lifeguards make sure the crowd doesn’t get sucked down with the undertow. There will be pole dancers, a hot-body contest with amazing cash prizes and, best of all, special guest Manila Luzon from “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and “Drag U” on Logo.

The show starts at midnight with $2 pink drinks and $1 shots before 11. Cover is only $20, or $15 if you come in your swimsuit. Voyeur Nightclub membership is not required for this special event.

Libertine Ball 2011

If that’s not hot enough for you, then take an extra-long disco nap on Saturday and get ready for Libertine Ball.

The theme this year is Fetish Beach Party, so forget that dirty Speedo you wore to Voyeur and dig out that rubber bikini and those latex shorts (or run over to Passional for a new pair if you don’t fit into last year’s anymore like me … because they shrunk!).

It all goes down from 9 p.m.-2 a.m. Aug. 13 at Shampoo Nightclub, 417 N. Eighth St.

Some of the fun in store includes a bondage bubble, a vac bed and vac cube, rubber-clad hottie hosts and hostesses, a hot tub, tiki performances on the main stage and in the dungeon, and tropical drink specials for the first hour.

You must be 18 to enter ($30 at the door), 21 or over to drink ($25 at the door). There’s still time to save $5 by purchasing your tickets in advance at Passional or Sexploratorium.

WOOF! Philly update

WOOF! wrapped up its summer installation at The Bike Stop and has now gone into hibernation for the month of August. Not surprising — all this heat must be hell when you’re covered with all that fur.

Keep an eye out for a big announcement about WOOF!’s exciting new home and join them again in the fall. Because you know when those bears come out of hibernation, they’re going to be hungry. Very hungry!
