The following incidents in the Midtown Village and Washington Square West areas were reported to the Sixth Police District between April 15-18. Information is courtesy of Sixth District Capt. REPORT: Between 2:30-8:45 p.m. April 15, complainant’s secured bicycle was stolen from the 800 block of Addison Street.
ARREST: At 12:20 p.m. April 16, a male was observed removing a lamp from the hallway of the Doubletree Hotel, 237 S. Broad St., and then leaving the property. At 5:30 p.m. April 18, the same male was seen in the hotel and was detained for police. The 51-year-old suspect with a West Oak Lane address was charged with theft.
REPORT: At 7:10 p.m. April 15, a male grabbed complainant’s handbag from the back of her chair outside Valanni Restaurant, 1229 Spruce St., and ran west on Spruce, then south on Broad. The offender was described as a black male dressed as a woman, 6-feet tall, muscular build, dark complexion, with long black hair and wearing a white shirt and jeans.
REPORT: At 1:30 a.m. April 17, (reported at 11:45 a.m.), a male asked complainant for a cigarette while in the 1200 block of Spruce Street. While getting one, the male knocked the complainant down and took his wallet and fled west on Spruce. The offender was described as a black male, 6-foot, clean-shaven, wearing a grey hoodie and jeans.
REPORT: At 6:30 p.m. April 18, out-of-town complainant gave a male acting as a parking-lot attendant at the paid lot at 13th and Locust streets the keys to his 2007 Volkswagen. When he returned at 8:30 p.m., the male and the car were gone. The offender was described only as a black male.
