As Pride festivities kicked off on June 2, PGN hosted its annual Stonewall Awards Brunch to honor local individuals and organizations that have made a positive impact on the community. AJ Hikes — the Deputy Executive Director for Strategy & Culture for the ACLU and the former Executive Director of the Philadelphia Office of LGBT Affairs — was the master of ceremonies while Sen. Bob Casey delivered a keynote address. Honorees included:
Community Ally: Bob Brady, Chairman of the Philadelphia Democratic Party
History Maker: Rue Landau, Philadelphia City Councilmember
Lifetime Achievement: Alba Martinez, Philadelphia Director of Commerce
Equality Government: Joanna McClinton, Speaker of the Pa. House of Representatives
Visibility: Sapphira Cristál, “RuPaul’s Drag Race” finalist
Equality Media: Comcast, accepted by Sean Mickens, Associate Vice President of External Affairs
