The LGBTQ organization dedicated to electing LGBTQ individuals to public office, Victory Fund, endorsed 25 more LGBTQ candidates for 2019 and 2020.
Among the new endorsees is incumbent Pennsylvania State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta.
Kenyatta told PGN, “It has been an enormous privilege to receive the endorsement of the LGBTQ Victory Fund once again. I am happy to be working with folks in the LGBTQ community and its allies to further our vision of equality in the eyes of the law. We must have a state where no matter who you love, how you identify, or where you’re from that you’re treated with fairness. We have come so far, yet we have so far to go. The Victory Fund is so vitally important to our cause. I am honored to be fighting alongside them and the other community leaders they have endorsed.”
“The number of viable LGBTQ candidates running for office continues to grow, with more people running in 2019 than in any odd-numbered election year in U.S. history,” said Mayor Annise Parker, President & CEO of LGBTQ Victory Fund in a statement. “On Election Day 2019, we expect history-making victories in municipalities across the nation – new mayors, city council members and school board members. And in 2020, LGBTQ candidates will run in unprecedented numbers for city councils, state legislatures and the U.S. Congress, leading to another Rainbow Wave on Election Day.”
So far, Victory Fund has endorsed 177 candidates in 2019 and 27 for the 2020 election cycle.
