Volunteer spots still open for DNC

The Philadelphia 2016 Host Committee for the Democratic National Convention has recruited more than 16,000 volunteers for the July event, surpassing its initial goal of 10,000.

There are still 1,000 spaces remaining through the volunteer portal online at www.phldnc.com/help-make-history. Once the portal reaches capacity, it will close and the host committee will start a wait list for additional volunteers.

About 60 percent of the volunteers come from the Philadelphia region, the host committee said.

“The fact that we have exceeded our volunteer recruitment goal by such a wide margin shows that residents from across the city, region and country are excited about this event and want to be a part of it,” Kevin Washo, executive director of the host committee, said in a statement. “We are very grateful for their interest in helping us host the Convention.”
