Human Rights Campaign on Wednesday released its 2014 Corporate Equality Index, which ranks major companies on LGBT workplace equality.
Philadelphia companies in the survey scored similar to last year, with two corporations making improvements and the rest remaining the same.
Philadelphia’s Dechert LLP, Comcast Corp. and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP received perfect scores again this year. Aramark and Pepper Hamilton LLP also both received a 100, up from last year’s 90.
Ballard Spahr LLP, Saul Ewing LLP, Duane Morris LLP and Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP remained at 90.
Last year’s lowest score, Pep Boys, remained at a 65 again this year.
In Pennsylvania, the average score for companies and law firms based is 84. Of the 32 Pennsylvania companies ranked, 11 earned 100, 11 earned 90 or above, and one earned 80 or above.
The CEI rates companies and top law firms on detailed criteria falling under five broad categories: nondiscrimination policies, employment benefits, demonstrated organizational competency and accountability around LGBT diversity and inclusion, public commitment to LGBT equality and responsible citizenship.
