Beautiful Day

Spring is just around the corner. You wouldn’t know it with the weather we’ve been having lately, but beautiful days are on their way.

I can tell because my inner gay clock is pointing to so many signs of spring. The days are getting a little bit longer, crocuses are trying their damnedest to bloom, but most of all I can tell spring is coming because the Oscars are over.

For the first time in more than 20 years, we didn’t throw our annual Oscar party this year because I was out of town, but I had a great time watching the broadcast while chatting online with friends.

I think it was one of the best Oscars in a long time. The new host was funny, the winners were well-deserving and, for the most part, it was not the same old faces you see winning every year — and they even found a way to work Michelle Obama into it. But for me the biggest reason this Oscar night rocked is because I didn’t have to stay up until 2 a.m. cleaning the damn house afterwards!

Vixens & Vagabonds

Join those sexy beasts from Liberty City Kings at 8 p.m. March 2 at Tabu, 200 S. 12th St. The Notorious OMG handles the MC duties as the Kings present their new show, “Murder Ze Wrote.” Cover charge is $10 in drag or kink gear, $12 if not, with all proceeds benefiting SisterSpace of the Delaware Valley.

Gryphons Party

Catch up with Philly’s gay rugby team 9 p.m. March 2 at U Bar, 1220 Locust St. It’s their first Saturday social after Boot Camp and their first few practices. Come check out all the fresh meat as well as the hot veterans from last season.

Mimi’s Bad Girl Birthday Bash

The biggest, baddest birthday party of the year starts 10 p.m. March 2 at Voyeur Nightclub, 1221 St. James St. It’s Mimi Imfurst’s birthday and she’s celebrating the only way she knows how — by inviting a bunch of hot bitches to celebrate with her!

Don’t miss special guests Shangela (oh my God!), Raven (OK, I’m totally gagging!), Morgan McMichaels, Delta Work, Phi Phi O’Hara, Tatianna, Mystique and Jiggly Caliente. Get your tickets online at badgirlsclub.brownpapertickets.com. And when you get there, ask Mimi how old she is … if you dare!

Qventures at the Flower Show

It’s time for the Philadelphia Flower Show, and the gang from Qventures is making a night of it. Meet up with them for pre-show cocktails at 6:30 p.m. March 5 at Smokin’ Betty’s, 116 S. 11th St. Then at 7:15 p.m., they’ll all head over to the Flower Show at the Convention Center, 12th and Arch streets. If you’re running late, don’t worry; just meet them at the Center near the ticket booth at 7:30.

The theme of the Flower Show this year is “Brilliant!” a celebration of Great Britain.

Tickets to the show are $32 each, and can be purchased online at www.theflowershow.com.

Our Night Out

Treat yourself to a weeknight out from 6-8 p.m. March 11 at R2L, on the 37th floor of Two Liberty Place, 50 S. 16th St. Enjoy the amazing panoramic views of the city and the tasty appetizers and drinks of R2L while networking with the fine folks of ONO.

Miss Richfield 1981

Catch Miss Richfield 1981 for the Philadelphia premiere of her new show, “Sweet & Sour Miss Richfield — Made in China,” at 8 p.m. March 14, 15 and 16 at the Society Hill Playhouse, 507 S. Eighth St.

If you only know her from her Orbitz commercials on Logo, then you owe it to yourself to see her in all her glory. Be prepared for anything — including songs, video shorts and lots of audience participation.

And remember, sometimes Miss Richfield 1981 can be found after performances relaxing and hiding from stalkers at Tavern on Camac, but don’t tell her I told you. The restraining order she has against me hasn’t expired yet.
