INCIDENTS — At 1:45 a.m. Dec. 31, a man was outside Woody’s, 202 S. 13th St., when another man asked for a cigarette and then began hitting him with a pipe. Another man stole his money from his pocket. The suspects were described as black males, the first wearing glasses, a white T-shirt, a black hoodie and jeans, and the second with a scar on the left side of his face, wearing a red shirt, jeans and a blue jacket.
— At 3:35 p.m. Dec. 31, a neighbor heard a loud noise from an apartment in the 1300 block of Pine Street and called 911. Police found the apartment door pried open, checked the premises and found the apartment empty. The owner came home and found a laptop and jewelry missing. Sixth District Officer McQue lifted fingerprints.
— Between midnight-5:50 a.m. Jan. 1, someone smashed the window of a 2005 Toyota parked in the 1200 block of Locust Street and stole clothing. The complainant cleaned the car before police were called, thus no fingerprints were lifted.
— At 11:30 p.m. Jan. 1, a man was outside 1200 Pine St. when another man asked him if he had a light. The complainant responded no and the man punched him in the face. A second man pushed him down and both kicked him. The suspects were described as white males, the first about 5-foot-10 and 185 pounds, wearing a Flyers jacket and a jester hat with a painted face, and the second about 5-foot-8 and 170 pounds, wearing a black jacket with a painted face.
— On Jan. 1, a man and his partner were walking in the 1200 block of Chestnut Street when a female made a derogatory reference to his sexual orientation and took a swing at him. The complainant blocked the punch when three males appeared and punched and kicked him in the body and head. The man reported suffering a large contusion to his head. He described the female suspect as a white woman with blond hair wearing a white coat. Central Detective Division and Victim Services Unit are investigating this assault as a possible bias/hate crime.
— Between 4-7 p.m. Jan. 5, someone pried open the door of an apartment building in the 1200 block of Walnut Street and unsuccessfully attempted to open an apartment door. Between 7:15-9 p.m., someone pried open an apartment door in the same block and stole an iPod.
— Between 6 p.m. Jan. 5 and 2:45 p.m. Jan. 6, someone pried open a door in the 1100 block of Spruce Street and stole jewelry and a laptop. Sixth District Officer Romanczuk lifted fingerprints.
NON-SUMMARY ARRESTS — At 3:45 a.m. Dec. 31, plainclothes 6th District Officers Crichton and Graner observed a male going through the pockets of another male outside 122 S. 13th St. An investigation determined that the complainant was punched and was in the process of being robbed when the officers intervened. Recovered from the suspect was the victim’s cash and ID. The 30-year-old suspect with a North Philadelphia address was charged with robbery and related offenses.
— At 10 a.m. Jan. 4, Center City District Officers Pagan and Moore, acting on a citizen’s information submitted through www.phillypolice.com/forms/submit-a-tip/, observed an illegal narcotics transaction outside 10th and Market streets. The officers arrested the suspected dealer and confiscated a quantity of narcotics pills and cash. The 50-year-old suspect with a North Philadelphia address was charged with intent to deliver illegal narcotics.
