What do you expect from the Democratic Convention?

“It will be pretty dull. They’ll just rubber-stamp Obama’s nomination for another four years [as president]. Obama will give a good speech. I’ll watch him on TV to see what he has to say. I always enjoy the way he gives a speech. But I’m not expecting any fireworks.”

“They’ll emphasize Obama’s positive points. More than likely, they’ll focus on his military victories, like killing Osama [bin Laden]. They’ll bring out the first lady to show Obama’s human qualities. I hope he wins, because Romney has done nothing for black people. All he does is trash Obama.”

“They’ll attack the Republicans. They’ll fight fire with fire. The Democrats won’t just be vocal in defending Obama’s record: They’ll take the offense and attack Romney. They’ll adhere to the philosophy that the squeaky wheel gets the oil.”

John Nikoloudakis
student | Center City
“The Democrats will promote women’s rights quite strenuously because the GOP is so bad on that issue. Whenever a Republican talks about rape or abortion, he puts his foot in his mouth. The LGBT delegates might kick up a fuss, since the convention is being held in a state that bans same-sex marriage. Gay rights and women’s rights are very important to Democrats.”
