The Attic Youth Center executive director Carrie Jacobs (right) and the agency’s other supporters surprise Jim Bryson, founder and namesake of the organization’s education and outreach agency, with a portrait of himself, which will now hang in The Attic’s library, during a tribute to Bryson April 16. Youth volunteers gave tours of The Attic to the 150 participants of the event, and city director of LGBT affairs Gloria Casarez read a proclamation to Bryson from the mayor. The tribute also featured a building auction to raise money for repairs and, thanks to a $5,000 matching pledge by Mel Heifetz, the event raised $10,400. Photo: Scott Drake
