What’s the best way to tackle racism in the Gayborhood?

“An end to all dress codes in the bars — within reason, of course. There should be no more bans on people in athletic outfits, or people wearing Timberland boots. That’s unacceptable. As a Jewish man, I want to see more empathy for all groups of people.”

“Darryl DePiano should hold a community-wide event at ICandy that facilitates communica-tion among all concerned parties. That would be a wonderful gesture on his part. It would show that he’s trying to learn and grow. And that he wants to promote communication and healing in the Gayborhood.”

“Mayor Kenney should hold a press conference, specifically about the importance of ending racism within the Gayborhood. People listen to him. That could help alleviate some of the more blatant racism that’s occurring. The Gayborhood should be a place where everyone feels safe and welcome.”
