Entrance changed for PCHR hearing

Due to construction, the entrance location for tonight’s Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations hearing on racism in the LGBT community has been changed.

Hearing attendees can use the doors at 801 Arch. St. The meeting is on the second floor of the building.

Guests were previously instructed to use the entrance at 112 N. Eighth St., but that area is under construction.

The hearing starts at 6 p.m. Those wishing to testify to their experiences of racism in the LGBT community are urged to register in advance by calling 215-686-4670 or emailing [email protected]. Written testimony can also be submitted to the same email address.

Speakers will have up to three minutes in an effort to keep the hearing within its two-hour timeslot.

The hearing will enable commissioners to gather testimony that will form the basis of a report about racism in the LGBT community, which will include recommendations on addressing the issue. This is the first time a formal government hearing will be held on the topic in the city.
