Pennsylvania gets another shout-out from ‘Will and Grace’ stars

The cast of “Will and Grace,” a show noted for raising LGB visibility, reunited this week for a video that touts the importance of Pennsylvania in the upcoming presidential election.

The nearly 10-minute scene unfolds in Will and Grace’s apartment living room. Their friend Karen is a staunch Donald Trump supporter — she “helped him pick out Melania!” — while Jack is undecided. The show, which ended in 2006, takes place in New York City. But Jack is registered in Pennsylvania.

Jack: “Does my vote even matter? I mean, how can one unemployed white fellow registered in Pennsylvania make a difference?”

Karen: “You say you’re registered in Pennsylvania?”

Jack: “Ugh, it’s such a long story. I was seeing this guy in Pennsylvania and we registered to vote there — I feel like there’s a chunk I’m missing.”

Will: “You understand that Pennsylvania is a very important swing state.”

Jack: “You don’t have to tell me, girl.”

Jack eventually decides to vote for Hillary Clinton because Katy Perry has endorsed her.

This week’s video is not the first time that “Will and Grace” stars have thrown their weight behind Clinton. During the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia in July, Debra Messing, who plays Grace, stopped by the National Constitution Center. She talked about why she supports the first woman to run for president in a major political party.

“I watched her as senator,” Messing said, according to philly.com. “I watched her as secretary of state. And I always just felt like she is brilliant. And she is compassionate. And she is steady.”

Other celebrities have also visited Philadelphia this month, highlighting the importance of Pennsylvania in the November election.

“Pitch Perfect” director Elizabeth Banks stumped for Clinton Sept. 23 at the University of Pennsylvania and during a meeting of the Liberty City LGBT Democratic Club at William Way.

“Orange is the New Black” star Uzo Aduba kicked off a happy hour Saturday at Knock in the Gayborhood at which an LGBT voter outreach initiative was announced. Aduba’s cast mate Diane Guerrero was in the city on the same day to encourage young canvassers with Equality Pennsylvania as they prepared to knock on doors in Philadelphia and Montgomery counties.
