Large-scale Gayborhood fundraiser planned for Orlando victims

Representatives of bars throughout the Gayborhood met this week and decided to launch a large-scale, collaborative fundraiser next month for victims of the Orlando massacre.

Philly4Pulse is set for July 21. According to Tabu owner Jeffrey Sotland, participating venues include: Tabu, ICandy, Knock, Woody’s, Tavern on Camac, Bike Stop, Stir, Boxers, UBar, Franky Bradley’s, Voyeur, Valanni, Bob & Barbara’s and L’etage.

At 7 p.m. that evening, representatives of city and state governments will serve as guest bartenders at the establishments and at 9 p.m., each venue will stage a unique programmed event. Sotland said events may include drag and burlesque shows, dance parties, karaoke and poker tournaments. Donations will be collected at each door, and T-shirts will also be for sale; proceeds from both will be donated to victims and their families.
