What can Mayor Kenney do to help pass an LGBT civil-rights law in Harrisburg?

Eleni Delopoulos
actor | West Philadelphia
"He needs to take a caravan out to Harrisburg, filled with LGBT people. Swarm the state Capitol, visit legislators’ offices and impress upon them the need for an LGBT civil-rights bill. If the legislators know that enough people are affected, I hope they’ll act favorably."

Claire Moyer
theater director | West Philadelphia
"Let him organize a march in Harrisburg. If that doesn’t bring results, do a sit-in outside the Capitol and shut down a few streets. Mayor Kenney should always be nonviolent and respectful, but serious enough to get the point across. If he really cares about it, he needs to do this."

Roberto Scolaro
attorney | Palermo, Italy
"One way for Kenney to draw attention to the problem is to embark on a hunger strike. It should just be temporary, for a few weeks. It wouldn’t endanger his life but it would get public attention and move the issue forward."

Kenia Murphy
student | North Philadelphia
"The mayor should hold a major parade in Philadelphia. Clothing can be distributed to the homeless people to help with attendance. At the end of the parade, he should give a speech in front of City Hall, calling for a state gay-rights law. He should make sure there’s plenty of publicity arranged by his press people."
