What should be done with the old Boy Scouts building in Philadelphia?

Sophia Coles
homemaker | North Philadelphia
"Turn it into a Boys and Girls Club for gays and lesbians. I don’t think there’s anything like that anywhere in the city. The group could provide moral support for the community because there’s a lot of bullying and gay-bashing going on. I have many gay and lesbian friends."

Jessica Downing
medical student | Gayborhood
"It should become an intimate-partner violence resource center. Intimate violence is rampant in society. The LGBT community isn’t immune to the problem. I feel it would be a productive use for the building."

Rachel Lawbaugh
dog handler | Grays Ferry
"Let it be a homeless shelter for LGBT youth. There’s always a need for that. And it should also have a comprehen-sive LGBT health-services clinic. Granted, we have Attic Youth and Mazzoni Center, but there’s always more that can be done."

Gail Williams
artist | Rittenhouse Square
"Convert it into an art studio with an LGBT focus. It should be a creative center for people to do their artwork and exhibit it inside the building. The studio should be open to all, but with a specific outreach to the LGBT community."
