DVLF announces 2016 HEROES

DVLF on Friday announced the individuals and organizations it will honor at next month’s 10th-annual HEROES event.

The LGBT grant making agency will present its Lifetime Legacy Award to Malcolm Lazin, the executive director of Equality Forum. The Adult HERO Award will go to trans activist and advocate Deja Lynn Alvarez, the director of Divine Light LGBTQ Shelter and Recovery Home and counselor at Trans-Health Information Project, a program of GALAEI. The Youth HERO Award will go to Ibrahmin Vicks of The Attic Youth Center and Mayor Jim Kenney will receive the Straight Ally HERO Award. Independence Business Alliance, the region’s LGBT chamber of commerce, will get the Nonprofit Organization HERO Award and Table 95 Hospitality — the parent company of Pennsylvania 6, Field House, and City Tap House — will be given the Business HERO Award.
