Two in custody for Maya Young murder

Philadelphia police have so far arrested two people in connection with the fatal stabbing of Maya Young, a transgender woman of color, in Frankford last month.
Police said Tiffany Floyd, 24, and Jose Pena, 19, both face charges of murder and conspiracy. They were arrested this week.
 
Floyd, of the 4300 block of Cloud Street, was denied bail and is being held in Riverside Correctional Facility. She has a preliminary hearing scheduled 9 a.m. March 16 in room 306 of the Criminal Justice Center, 1301 Filbert St.
 
Pena, of the 900 block of Pratt Street, was also denied bail and is being held in Summit Academy, a juvenile facility. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled 9 a.m. March 23 in room 306 of the Criminal Justice Center.

According to authorities, police responded to the report of a “stabbing on the highway” near 4900 Griscom Street around 11:50 p.m. Feb. 20. When officers arrived, they found Young suffering from several stab wounds to the neck and chest. They transported her to Aria Health Frankford, where officials pronounced her dead at 12:21 a.m. Feb. 21.
