What would you like to say to the pope when he visits Philadelphia?

Deanne Drago
Student | Washington Square West
"Love is love. Keep up the good work. People can’t help how they feel. We’re all God’s children. And I’d thank him for making positive statements about the LGBT community."

Alex Tripodi
student | Center City
"I would thank him for being publicly supportive of the LGBT community. It means a lot to people. I’d also try to slip in a plug for gay marriage. I don’t think he has the ability to bring about same-sex marriages within the Catholic Church, but it’s worth a try."

Jennifer Fernandez
student | Chinatown
"I’d congratulate him for being one of the more progressive popes. I’m not LGBT, but I’m an LGBT sympathizer. I’d tell him that I’m very encouraged by his progressive stands. Although the Catholic Church has a long way to go, he’s taking tiny steps towards increasing LGBT acceptance."

Christian Lordi
student | East Norriton
"Everyone deserves equal rights. I’d also tell him I’m an atheist. Part of the reason why I’m an atheist is because of my experience with the Catholic Church. I’d tell the pope that the church should be nicer to people and he’ll get more followers. I might even come back into the fold, if major changes are made."
