The following incidents in the Midtown Village and Washington Square West areas were reported to the 6th Police District between Jan. 7-13. Information is courtesy of 6th District Capt. INCIDENTS — Between 3 p.m. Jan. 4 and 10 a.m. Jan. 7, someone entered an unlocked office with public access in a building on South 12th Street and stole a laptop and fax machine. — Between 8:45 a.m. Jan. 7 and 11:15 a.m. Jan. 8, someone stole a secured bicycle from outside 241 S. Broad St. — Between 4:25-4:40 p.m. Jan. 8, a woman left her apartment in the 1100 block of Lombard Street unlocked as she ran an errand and returned to find a TV, DVD player and laptop missing. — Between 10 p.m. Jan. 5 and 10 a.m. Jan. 9, someone stole a secured bicycle from behind a residence in the 1300 block of Pine Street. — Between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Jan. 9, someone pried open the door of an apartment in the 300 block of South 12th Street and stole an iPad. Sixth District Officer Sprouls lifted fingerprints. — Between 11:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Jan. 9, someone pried open the door of an apartment in the 1300 block of Spruce Street and stole an iPad. Sixth District Officer Keenan lifted fingerprints. — Between 5-7:30 p.m. Jan. 9, someone stole a secured bicycle from outside 1300 Market St. — At 2:50 a.m. Jan. 10, a man got into an argument with another patron inside a diner at 122 S. 11th St., when the patron struck him in the face with a salt shaker, causing a cut under his eye. The suspect was described as black, wearing a black dress and large sunglasses. — At noon Jan. 10, a man set his cell phone down on the desk in the emergency room at Jefferson University Hospital, 132 S. 10th St., and it was stolen. Security video showed the suspect to be a white male in his 30s, 6 feet and about 200 pounds, wearing a black sweatshirt with a white design. — At 9 p.m. Jan. 12, a woman was walking up the subway stairs at 10th and Market streets when a man snatched her handbag and fled. The suspect was described as a black male, 35, 6 feet, with a thin build, wearing a black hoodie, jeans and a black cap.

NON-SUMMARY ARRESTS — At 7:55 p.m. Jan. 8, 6th District Officers Romanczuk and Cash responded to a call at the Parker Spruce Hotel, 261 S. 13th St., and came into contact with a man wanted on a bench warrant for failure to appear for court. The suspect was taken into custody, and found to have six bags of marijuana. The 51-year-old suspect was charged with contempt of court and possession of marijuana. — At 3:30 a.m. Jan. 9, employees of the 7-11 at 1201 Chestnut St. were confronted by a man with both hands in his jacket pockets, simulating a weapon, who demanded money. One of the employees simulated having his own weapon and chased the male out of the store and called 911. Sixth District plainclothes Officers Crichton and Graner apprehended the male at 12th and Locust streets. The 34-year-old suspect with a Camden, N.J., address, who was not armed, was charged with robbery and related offenses. — On Jan. 9, 6th District plainclothes officers made arrests for prostitution at 8:30 p.m. outside 1200 Locust St. and 9:20 p.m. outside 100 S. 13th St. — At 1:15 p.m. Jan. 11, Center City District Officers Walker and Avery observed an illegal narcotics transaction outside 1001 Market St. and arrested two males. A 26-year-old seller with a Tacony address was charged with illegal narcotics sales, and 27-year-old buyer with a South Philadelphia address was charged with possession of illegal narcotics. A quantity of narcotics pills and cash was confiscated. — On Jan. 12, Citywide Vice officers made arrests for prostitution at 8:45 p.m. outside 200 S. 12th St. and 9:15 p.m. outside 400 S. 13th St. — At noon Jan. 12, a man set his wallet on the counter inside Rite Aid, 1002 Market St., and it was stolen. The victim pointed out the suspect to 6th District Officer Thornton, who arrested him and recovered the wallet. The 27-year-old suspect with a South Philadelphia address was charged with theft. — UPDATE: On Nov. 27, two males held up patrons and employees of the coffee shop at 1300 Pine St. Security video from the SEPTA subway station at Broad and South streets of one of the suspects was widely publicized. On Jan. 8, 9th District officers arrested males for a robbery at 18th and the Parkway and noticed one of them closely resembled the photos from the security video. Central Detectives positively identified the suspect and arrested him Jan. 12 with a warrant. The 19-year-old suspect with a North Philadelphia address was charged with robbery and related offenses.

SUMMARY ARRESTS — At 4:40 p.m. Jan. 9, 6th District officers issued a citation for a summary offense at 1015 Walnut St. — At midnight Jan. 10, 6th District officers issued a citation for a summary offense outside 233 S. 13th St. — At 9:45 p.m. Jan. 11, 6th District officers issued two citations for summary offenses outside 1300 Walnut St. — On Jan. 12, 6th District officers issued citations for summary offenses at 1:25 a.m. outside 1200 Locust St. and 5:45 p.m. outside 912 Walnut St.
