Nice ideas

Dear Editor:

I think that a gay senior housing center would be nice [“Senior center project takes next step,” Sept. 17-23]. At first my cynical mind reeled, thinking it would probably be an impenetrable fortress of Gayborhood nepotism — housing only the Bartletts, Acostas and those who’ve been honoring each other for the last 50 years, or a bare-bones flop house for working-class barflies. Whatever the roster, though, housing is a basic right, however ghetto-ized. We should celebrate the ability to produce such a facility and support all its efforts. Sometimes things are over-scrutinized and I, and others, should accept what it simply is: a nice idea.
