Gay chorus holds auditions

The Philadelphia Gay Men’s Chorus will host auditions for its upcoming shows from 7-9 p. m. Jan. 5 at the William Way LGBT Community Center, 1315 Spruce St.

Those interested in attending do not need to prepare any music for the audition.

The PGMC’s next concert, “That ’80s Show,” will be held in March. The group is also looking for non-singing dancers to participate in the upcoming show.

Dancers, doctors discuss men’s health

The Smoke, Lilies and Jade Arts Initiative, in collaboration with the University of the Arts, will hold its third annual Studio Performance and Panel Discussion from 6-8 p.m. Jan. 10 at the Gershman Y, 401 S. Broad St.

The event will focus on black gay men’s health and will feature a panel discussion with Dr. Lisa Bowleg of Drexel University’s Department of Community Health and Prevention; Dr. Theodore J. Corbin, director of Drexel’s Violence Intervention Program; and Dr. John Rich, chair of Drexel’s Department of Health Management and Policy. SLJ artists will also perform dance and spoken-word pieces that address black gay men’s health issues.

Strike for Mountain Meadow

LGBT youth organization Mountain Meadow will host an all-day bowling fundraiser on Jan. 11 at Lucky Strike Lanes and Lounge, 1336 Chestnut St.

Bowling will cost $15 an hour, and Lucky Strike will donate 20 percent of all its income throughout the day to Mountain Meadow.

Bowlers are encouraged to form teams and seek fundraising pledges. The event, which has been titled Satellite Bowl, will be held in conjunction with numerous other Mountain Meadow bowling fundraisers in the tri-state area and beyond.
