Despite my tanning handicap, last year I became obsessed with Sandy Hook, a national park in North Jersey. Sure, part of it is all the naked people running around the nude section of Gunnison Beach, but a bigger part is how incredibly peaceful and beautiful it is up there. No boardwalk, no hotels, no houses, nothing but sand and surf and sun and a whole lot of very friendly people.
I was so excited to make my first trip of the year to Sandy Hook a couple of Sundays ago! It was a little chilly and there was a light breeze, but the sun was so bright and warm that it wasn’t difficult to stay nice and toasty. Crazy as it sounds, for me beach season started this year on the day after St. Patrick’s Day (sure, no climate change going on here).
And yes, I’m totally hoarding Coppertone SPF 30. Because the only thing worse than a sunburn is a sunburn at the nude beach.
