
LOCAL ARTISTS ITCHING TO PERFORM: Philadelphia Live Arts will launch “Scratch Night,” a monthly salon showcasing new works of dance, theater and cross-genre performances. The first event features performances by playwrights Justin Jain and Jeffrey Stanley. Jain will present brief excerpts of his in-progress work “Bedtime Stories for Special Boys,” a theatrical piece exploring gay-male identity through personal narratives, children’s fairy tales and audience interaction. Stanley will present a portion of his 2011 Philly Fringe show “Beautiful Zion: A Book of the Dead,” an autobiographical solo comedy about alcoholism, family and contacting the dead that features a supernatural element and audience participation.
